3. Matthew SQUAIR was born on 3 October 1841 in Edinburgh, Midlothian.. He died in 1931 at the age of 90 in Lewisham, London.

Matthew SQUAIR and Jane HENDERSON were married on 24 April 1867 in Greenwich, London.. Jane HENDERSON was born in 1847 in Scotland. She died in 1889 at the age of 42 in Deptford, Greenwich, London. Jane died at the relatively young age of 42 when Ethelwyn and Ruby were 6 and 2 respectively and they were taken into care by her brother, William Henderson and his wife Mary B Henderson. See 1891 Census. They were subsequently adopted by the family who had no children of their own. See 1901 Census. They lived in Tormoham (Torquay) which is probably why Orlando knew her previously.
